Meet Jayne Villamizar

(she/her)
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern

Jayne is currently pursuing her graduate studies at Capella University. With an undergraduate degree in psychology from Portland State University and a senior capstone focused on mindfulness and meditation, she believes in the power of the present moment to foster healing and growth.

Drawing from over 20 years of experience as a professional nanny and family assistant/consultant, Jayne has developed a profound understanding of family dynamics and the complexities of human relationships. She finds great fulfillment in working with individuals, couples, and families, guiding them through the challenges they face while helping them find balance and meaningful connection.

Jayne’s approach is structural, which provides a foundation that allows her to integrate a more flexible and fluid approach to therapy. She weaves in various therapeutic theories and interventions to meet each client where they are, adapting to their unique needs and circumstances. This allows for a personalized and holistic approach that fosters healing and growth in a way that feels authentic and tailored.

Her work is deeply rooted in the somatic experience, recognizing the wisdom that our bodies hold in the face of grief, trauma, and personal transformation. She believes that true change comes from a space of deep curiosity, allowing individuals to explore their inner selves, embrace vulnerability, and expand their perspectives.

Jayne’s therapeutic practice is built on empathy and the belief that every individual has the capacity to grow and evolve. Whether helping a couple rebuild communication or supporting a family through transitions, she is dedicated to creating a warm and open space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to rewrite their own narratives.

Outside of her studies, Jayne enjoys spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, and finding moments of stillness that nourish her mind and spirit. Although no longer teaching yoga, she continues to incorporate mindfulness practices into her daily life, confident that presence and self-awareness are key to living with intention and authenticity.
