Meet Leanna Smith
(she/her)
Professional Counselor Intern
Leanna believes that healing begins with a compassionate space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. As a person-centered counselor, her approach is rooted in the belief that each individual has the inner resources and wisdom to grow, heal, and thrive—sometimes we just need the right support to uncover them.
Leanna integrates evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and interpersonal therapy to support clients in developing greater awareness, self-regulation, and balance in their lives. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or seeking deeper self-understanding, the work will be collaborative, gentle, and empowering.
Leanna views each person as a whole—mind, body, and spirit—and tailors therapy to meet the individual’s unique needs with the goal of connecting with personal strengths, shifting unhelpful patterns, and cultivating tools for lasting emotional wellness. When we learn to listen to both our thoughts and the wisdom of our bodies, meaningful change becomes possible.
Leanna joins us as a counseling Intern through the Clinical Mental Health program at Grand Canyon University, where she has completed her academic courses and is now beginning the practical side of her education under the supervision of Chris Cleaver.
